Scarlatti, Beethoven, Shubert, Schumann and Prokofiev: a classic lineup.
Keyboard brilliance is the hallmark of Wenwen Du, the outstanding young pianist who opens the 2016-17 Coast Recital Society concert season on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m. at the Raven’s Cry Theatre in Sechelt.
Acclaimed internationally for the natural warmth and beauty of her playing, Du has given solo recitals in China, Poland, Holland, Germany, Austria, England, United States, Canada, and Italy. She has also performed frequently with British tenor Ian Bostridge. In a review of their recent New York recital, the New York Times critic called her playing “superb.” “This year’s CRS concert season features an exceptional line-up of musicians,” says CRS artistic director Frances Heinsheimer Wainwright.
“We continue to build on the CRS tradition of bringing the finest classical musicians to the Sunshine Coast. We remain committed to ensuring that these concerts are accessible to everyone on the Coast, through our subscription concert series, as well as through our extensive Artists in the Community outreach program that presents concerts in local schools and eldercare residences.”
