Who can think of Groundhog Day without thinking of Bill Murray…and learning the piano, day after day. So how many days did he actually spend?
Well it’s Groundhog Day. Again. Which gives us all an excuse to watch that oh-so-classic movie in which Bill Murray’s weatherman Phil Conners lives the same day over and over – and over – again.
But have you ever stopped to wonder just how many times Bill’s beleaguered character has actually repeated that fated February 2 by the time the film ends?
So, the folks at the website What Culture thought it would be a pretty long time.
In fact, they estimate that Bill spent a whopping 12,395 days reliving that infamous February 2nd – or to put it in simpler terms, 33 years and 350 days.
And how did they calculate this? Well it’s complicated, but much of it boils down to the amount of time Phil Conners would have spent mastering ice sculptures, learning French and mastering the piano, in his bid to actually make time move forward.
