…for the next Piano Hero, Canada’s classical pianist competition! Here are some of the contenders:

SHILO – Capt. Victor Pak, currently posted at CFB Shilo, is competing for the title of Piano Hero, a nationwide contest through CBC Music and ICI Musique. Online voting at piano2016.strutta.com ends Thursday at 2 p.m. (SUBMITTED)

A Canadian Forces captain with a passion for classical music is in the running for the title of “Piano Hero” — a national competition looking to find Canada’s favourite amateur pianist.

Capt. Victor Pak, a physiotherapist currently posted at CFB Shilo, is one of more than 150 entries in the contest, presented by CBC Music and ICI Musique.

“It’s been an interesting experience. It’s good to tickle the ivories again for sure,” Pak said. “I just hope whoever listens to my playing enjoys it. I think that’s the main thing.” read more at brandonsun.com

MONTAGUE – He loves tickling the ivories and the P.E.I. teen’s hope in a national piano contest is counting on Islanders to help him by tickling the online “vote” button.

David Thompson is a 17-year-old high school student who has entered the CBC Piano Hero contest and is currently ninth place.

But he’s hoping to win if he has enough family, friends and Island supporters who will go online and vote for him before the contest closes Thursday at 3 p.m. read more at theguardian.pe.ca

GOODRICH Goderich may soon have the distinction of being home to Canada’s favourite amateur classical pianist. Goderich native Hugo Russell (pictured above) is looking for community support as he needs votes for CBC Music’s Piano Hero competition.

Each contestant has uploaded a video of himself or herself playing a piece on the piano. After a public vote, the top 10 finalists with the most votes are then sent to a jury before a final winner is selected.

In under three years Hugo has managed to reach a Grade nine level in piano.

It is nothing short of a major accomplishment as Hugo is only 11-years-old. That level is often reserved for experienced musicians only after years of practice. read more at goderichsignalstar.com
