After his win at the 17th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, young Korean artist Seong-Jin Cho has started the next phase of his career in Royal Festival Hall. Richard Fairman of the Financial Times reviews the concert:

His celebratory concert in London with the Philharmonia Orchestra certainly bodes well. Seong-Jin Cho chose to play Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1, the piece which won him the final, and in the company of conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy, who took second prize himself in the competition in 1955. At times their combined expertise seemed to summon the spirit of Chopin in the air.
